Learning State merges with ETITO

Learning State Ltd, the public sector industry training organisation (ITO) is to merge with ETITO, the Auckland based multi-industry ITO.

The merger, which is still subject to approval of the Tertiary Education Commission Board, will enable economies of scale and synergies for the delivery of more comprehensive, cost effective public sector training required to support Better Public Services.

ETITO will be assuming coverage for the state sector, local government and civil defence sectors adding to its coverage for the ambulance, contact centre, electrotechnology, offender management, security and telecommunications industries.

“The consolidation of the two organisations will have considerable benefits for the public sector,” says Garry Fissenden, Chief Executive of ETITO. “The economies of scale will provide greater access to training, resources and skills leadership for our learners and agencies, which in turn, will enhance productivity and performance.”

“The merger reflects the changing nature of the industry training sector.” continues Fissenden. “With the shared commitment of both organisations to develop and deliver the qualifications and services needed by our industries - it’s an exciting time.”

Learning State will continue operating using its existing brand during a period of transition with arrangements being made to ensure the training required will continue to be delivered. The merger also sees ETITO’s Wellington based staff moving to the Learning State offices with a transition plan for the provision of operational and administrative support.
