Skills Recognition

Skills recognitionLearning State supports skills recognition across the New Zealand public sector.

Skills Recognition Programme

If you are an experienced administrator or manager working in central or local goverment, but have no formal recognition of your skills and experience, you may already be well on the way to achieving a professional qualification.

Learning State, in partnership with Competency International Limited, offers a Skills Recognition programme to provide formal workplace assessessment of existing skills.

Workplace assessment measures and recognises the skills and knowledge of employees in the workplace environment.

A workplace assessor, who is registered with Learning State, assesses the evidence the employee has gathered against the relevant unit standards on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF). Unit standards have clearly stated learning outcomes that learners need to demonstrate in order for them to achieve that standard.

Assessment can be undertaken in various ways.  For example, the assessor may observe the employee complete a specific task, or conduct a face-to-face interview, provide them with a questionnaire, review written examples of work or review references from the employee’s manager.
